I had the pleasure of working with Di Ann at Delta when she was VP-HR for the Technology group and I was HR Director for the airline group. What I admired most about Di Ann were her leadership and integrity. While I was fighting a union on the airline side, Di Ann was occupied on the Technology side by the turbulence of downsizing, M&A prospects, and other chaotic business circumstances. Yet, with the precision of a surgeon, Di Ann effectively carved away the Technology side such that our issues on the airline side did not negatively impact her business. In my opinion, she accomplished this by leading with integrity, gaining the respect of business leaders, and earning the trust of front-line employees. This was no small feat and I appreciate the guidance and perspectives she shared with me as we kept Delta union-free.
